Proximity for the electricity
supplier of the canton of Zurich
The EKZ supplies around one million people with affordable, safe and environmentally friendly
electricity. This makes them one of the largest Swiss energy suppliers. The situation is tense for the
utilities due to the planned opening of the electricity market for all customers and thus the exit
from the nationalised monopoly economy. They were forced to design both their services and their brand
appearance competitive.
Luckily the electricity supplier chose process as their partner for this crucial step. While a major
amount of the design team was busy elaborating the new brand building blocks and later on redesigning
the different print formats, I have been assigned to the evolution of the brands number one digital
touchpoint. Their website. The mission was to apply as much of the brushed-up identity to the current
state of the website with as little programmatic effort as possible in a first step. The second step
consisted of conceiveing a possible new layout of the touchpoint by exploring and elaborating the new
building blocks in the digital space. Ultimately, the new brand definitions were recorded on a new
brand portal using frontify.
